Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery News – Nose Surgery Gone Wrong

July 21, 2010 · Posted in Videos · Comment

www.rhinoplastyspecialist.com Rhinoplasty Specialist Dr. Paul S. Nassif, of “Dr. 90210″ and Spalding Drive Plastic Surgery in Beverly Hills, performs a revision rhinoplasty procedure on a young female to fix the work of another plastic surgeon who left her with a deformed nose. Perfecting surgery with this three-dimensional structure (the nose) takes years to master and continues to improve. Little did we know that rhinoplasty maneuvers that were used three years ago could cause disastrous results today. Rhinoplasty surgery is forever evolving! My fellowship director, J. Regan Thomas, MD, told me something that Ill never forget you havent learned anything about rhinoplasty until youve performed at least a thousand procedures and followed them for many years. This statement epitomizes why fellowships are so valuable. Some of the needed experience and potential pitfalls are circumvented by first hand observing and learning the analysis, judgment, techniques, complication management and most importantly, results from a seasoned rhinoplasty surgeon. This is why I super-specialized in rhinoplasty surgery during my fellowship in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. The training catapults you years ahead of many other surgeons that arent fortunate to have post-graduate training. Many cosmetic surgeons are taught that aggressive cartilage removal is a procedure of the past. Todays concept is less is more. Less cartilage excision, cartilage repositioning, camouflage techniques

www.plasticsurgerycroatia.net We must stress that there is no nasal correction ie cosmetic operation without simultaneous performance of a FUNCTIONAL OPERATION. It means that the first postulate of cosmetic operations is function and not aesthetics. A nose is a pyramid inside of which a deviated septum must be straightened ie corrected in order to enable the patient to breathe properly. More than 15% of the population does not breathe properly through the nose, but use the mouth to assist the breathing (snoring, dry mouth, fatigue). Only after the problem of sinuses has been solved, ie a breathing disorder, cosmetic operation of the nose can be performed. Our clinic is one of the few in the world that can perform simultaneous cosmetic and functional nose surgery. When choosing a cosmetic surgeon, make sure you check whether he is certified for performing nasal surgery ie are they a certified Ear, Nose, and Throat Surgeon (an otolaryngologist/rhino surgeon) as well as which clinic they were educated and trained at. It is of utmost importance to perform both operations (cosmetic and functional) in one procedure, since you may have even worse breathing problems than prior to the operation What gives our patients additional confidence is the fact that Dr.Glusac is both a certified member of the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery as well as a certified Rhino (Otolaryngology) Surgeon. www.plasticsurgerycroatia.net

Would insurance cover a cosmetic rhinoplasty if there were also real medical problems with the nose?

April 4, 2010 · Posted in Questions · Comment

I have some problems breathing through my nose. I hadn’t really noticed it before but the more I think about it, the more I realize that my breathing could probably be better. I have also been thinking about getting cosmetic rhinoplasty for a very long time. I was wondering, if I went to a plastic surgeon to fix my breathing problems, could I also get my nose cosmetically “fixed”, “reshaped” (which ever term you chose to use) at the same time and still be covered by the insurance? Thanks in advance.
